Be a Parade Day Volunteer

We are looking for a few good people to be Volunteer Street Marshals to help the parade committee with this important task on parade day.

Responsibilities of a street marshal include ensuring that the parade viewers are safely behind the curb and that they are having a good time. Marshals are the "eyes and ears" of the parade committee, get help in case of medical emergencies and will assist Police and EMS in case of injuries or accidents. Those marshals placed in intersections could be requested to part the crowds and clear the intersections for emergency vehicle access.

We hold two (2) orientation meetings in late June and require all marshals to attend. Positions are pre-assigned, information packages are distributed and presentations are given by Calgary Police Service, EMS, Parade Committee Coordinators, etc.

This is a great opportunity for individuals and groups to become a part of the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth. If you would like to make yourself available as a Street Marshal, please send an e-mail to with the following information

  1. First and last name
  2. Phone number
  3. e-mail address
  4. Postal address
