The Calgary Stampede has been a part of our community since 1912 and has evolved into a Canadian cultural icon and the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth! Our sustainability has been built with the support of people like you - people with vision, perseverance, tenacity and determination, as well as a strong sense of community. The Calgary Stampede is part of the very fabric that differentiates the great city of Calgary from any other city in the world. We have become a world class event and we are continually looking for ways to add more value for our visitors, sponsors and the city of Calgary. We would like to introduce you to a program in its infancy, a program in which YOU can play an integral role.
The much-anticipated kick-off to 10 days of fun is the Calgary Stampede Parade. The parade draws crowds of 350,000 people and is televised internationally. The 2008 edition of the Parade promises an extraordinary surprise for all, and this is your invitation to be a part of it.
As you well know, over the years the Stampede Parade has had several marquee Parade Marshals - from Hollywood stars, world renowned scientists to our own Canadian heroes. We want YOU to keep ahead of the pack, lead the parade down the streets of Calgary, setting the stage for the Marshals and what is to follow! YOU can be one of our Celebrity Rodeo Clowns. The feedback we have received from previous Celebrity Rodeo Clowns is displayed on the calendar, a great one of which is: “…having my kids yell ‘That’s my Dad!’ as they ran to the curb…”.
The advantages of this limited opportunity to be a Celebrity Rodeo Clown leading the world famous Calgary Stampede parade are:
- Wrangler Level Sponsor which includes recognition in the Annual Report to the Community, recognition in every edition of the Rodeo & Evening Souvenir Programs, TWO badges*, an invitation for you and your guest to attend Showdown* and a discount card for use at various Calgary Stampede partner retailers;
- Rodeo Clown Costume (make-up, hat, rodeo shirt, rodeo jeans, socks & suspenders);

- Transportation to and from the Friday, July 4th, 2008 Parade and exclusive post-parade luncheon.
*For clarity, these badges entitle the wearer to free entrance to Stampede Park any time during the 10 day festival, free entrance to the tarmac for the rodeo and evening programs every day, free entrance to the infield Hitching Post and free entrance to Wrangler’s Roost (a comfortable sheltered lounge which offers refreshments at reasonable prices and free snacks). Showdown is a large, yet exclusive dinner party held in June for the volunteers and staff: it is full of excitement and one can garner a sense of level of the commitment from so many Calgarians dedicated to maintaining the excellence for which the Calgary Stampede is known worldwide.
