Traveling Downtown
The C-Train is the best option for travel as it runs before, during and after the parade. For schedules check Calgary Transit Schedules.
Impark surface lots accessed off of 9th Avenue will be made available free of charge to parade spectators until 2:00pm on parade day (NOTE: This offer only applies to lots operated by Impark and does not include the Tower Centre Parkade). If you must drive downtown, park before 7:30 a.m. when most roads to the downtown core close or park outside the closed-off areas. Additional information can be obtained from Impark at 299-7275.
There are a number of road closures that become effective at 7:30 a.m. on parade day:
- 6th Avenue is closed from 6th Street S.E. to 10th Street S.W.
- All of 10th Street S.W. is closed from 6th to 9th Avenues, and
- 9th Avenue is closed from 11th Street S.W. to 8th Street S.E.
Only 11th Street S.W., 4th Avenue and 5th Avenue remain open to traffic but will be very congested.
The entire parade route will remain closed to traffic until the last entry has completed the parade (approximately 12:00 noon).
Parking meters in the downtown core on parade day are NOT free.
